Pesta Kaul Mukah.
Assalamualaikum and Hello peeps !I'm back ! I just came after spending 6 days at my hometown :) and I'm going to share you about my experienced I enjoyed the most ! :)
First day,
As soon as I arrived. Udak (my mom's younger sister) came fetch me with Sarah. After lunch, we went to Tapak pesta Kaul. I was looking for mom's hijab.

Well, Let me tell you about this fiesta
In the past, Kaul was looked upon as a religious ceremony to applease the spirit of the sea,land forest and farm making it as the most important festival of the melanau year.It is a ritual of purrification and thanks goving as well as one of propotation for good fortune.It is held at the beginning of the melanau calendar marked by the monsoons which affected their livelihood as farmers and fisherman.
The melanaus conversion to islam and christianity however has turned the practiced into a social-cultural gathering rather than a religious ceremony. Nevertheless, the essence of the festival is still intact. The ritual associated with Kaul are still carried out, though more as cultural apprection.
Pesta Kaul Mukah is being publicized statewide although the event itself has been going on for hundred years. The objective is to invite Sarawakians and the melanaus in particular throughout the state to visit or come home and to celebrate together to make the festival fun and memorable occasion for the Melanau hometown.

Second day,
I woke up late. I just spent my day cleaning up Udak's house. well, it caused me flu. I can't stop sneezing all day and I need bath towel to blow my nose. LOL. and then, I went out with my cousins, we went to pasar lama. We went to pameran. Its look like a "Pasar Malam". They sell many things like hijab, bracelet, clothes, toys, foods and many more. While, I bought 3 shirts and it just cost Rm5 each ! LOL. Anyway, I was planninng to spend my night at my grandparents's house and then Azrul, my lil brother came fetch me and my cousin.

Third day,
Today, I woke up early ! I had breakfast with my gandma, Mak Nek. We were talked about my future husband. LOL. well, I mean about my boyfriend, Ismail. She asked me a lot about him. Its kinda awkward when you are telling the eldest about your boyfriend. hehe :) Then, I doing my chores. My grandpa coming home. He caught a fish. He asked Mak Nek to cook it. Mak Nek asked me to cook vegetable. Well, I'm not really good in cooking. *biasa biasa aje :p After Jumaat prayer, Udak came to fetch us. While we were chit chatting on the dinner table. Suddenly, Pak Nek asking me about my boyfriend. Same questions again. *kena soal siasat. LOL. Then, at 6 my friends came from Miri. They stayed at Udak's house too. After Magrib, we went to pesta Kaul.
We went to the Pameran again. Well, I bring along Sarah too. She really want to go out with me. The place was crowded. I hold her hand so tightly. There are also motor, cars and bicycle exhibition. Many people were there. plus, ITS REALLY HOT ! I was sweating like a pig. seriously -.-" and then we went back home. Take a rest and sleep like a pig, LOL.
okay, today we spent our day at my uncle oil palm plantation. It was blistering hot day ! We had our lunch at "Rumah Burung Layang-layang", then we just spent our time just sitting on the log, playing with river. SOOOOOOOOOOO REFRESHING! After that, we went to Pak Nek's house. Relaxing and eat. Sarah loves to bully aqmal. She spent most of the time playing with the boys. *atleast, ada juak org mok mlayan cdak duak. hehe :P meanwhile, at night we went to pesta kaul againn, well this time the fiesta kinda boring. Many people came today listen the concert by local artist. After that, we had dinner at Riverside Seafood.
After quick breakfast, I went to Pak Nek's house before we back home. I kissed and hugged both of them before we left. I'm gonna miss them a lot. So, I went back home with my uncle. We started our trip back to Miri at 2.30 pm. Then we stop by for awhile at Selangau. After refueling at Bintulu, we continue our trip without stop. I think I reached home at about 8.00 pm. Heavy rains slow us down and it caused flood at Bakam. At night it's much harder to see water hazards. Everytime we reach uncertain depth, we went slow and it caused such long queues behind us. Trust me, its very loooooooooongg.
It was a really fun holiday - the first time I've ever spent with my friends, Mamat and Aqmal. I wish I could spend my holiday with my boyfriend. Next year I wish. :) This Saturday, I'm going back to KL. New semester ! Move to the new house. Its going to be veeerry hectic.

After Asar prayer when to Tapak Pesta Kaul again. We were expecting there are activities were held. but NO. * disappointed T-T. So, we were just walking around. Sight-seeing. and Aqmal was trying to play tibaw. Its really scary though. After that, we went home after we have our dinner at warung.

It was a really fun holiday - the first time I've ever spent with my friends, Mamat and Aqmal. I wish I could spend my holiday with my boyfriend. Next year I wish. :) This Saturday, I'm going back to KL. New semester ! Move to the new house. Its going to be veeerry hectic.
